The German pistol project of Georg Luger after a long and glorious career was also in service in the Wehrmacht as an officially flank weapon until 1938 when it was to be replaced by the Walther P38 but with the start of the war and the growing demand for weapons did not allow to stop the production of pistols by Mauser until December 1943. Extremely efficient and precise weapon as complicated and laborious in its production it became a highly coveted war trophy for American troops who were looking for pieces to send home.
